Day 1 [USA]: Ready, set, go bear!

Wow, we finally did it; we're
on the road! Or in the air, to
be exact.

This morning, my porters
stuffed and squeezed their
gizmos and porter suits into
their backpacks. The porters
are very funny, I think,
especially their porter suits
which look very odd and
amusing. Mr. Porter always
wears green. He looks like a
Chinese man imitating a tree.
Mrs. Porter looks like a
pretty woman standing next
to a Chinese man imitating a
tree.

We had some friends help us
with our preparation. I
thought that Elsie was
particularly helpful and kind.

Tomorrow, we will arrive in
London. I've been practicing
my British accent all week.
And I've been very proper at
the dinner table. I can't wait
to impress the British with
my good table manners and
zany bear humour.

But first we need to finish
our airplane flights. I don't
mind the flying so much, I
get to steal some of my
porters' food when they're
not looking. Still, thirteen
hours on airplanes is a very
long time, and I can't wait to
arrive!

I'm going on an adventure!

Today, I found out about something very exciting. My porters -- you see, they carry me around to wonderful places -- have decided to go on another adventure! We'll be travelling for a very long time...

...over 7 months! Oh, how I miss exploring the world. You see, a long time ago when I was a teensy little bear, I spent many hours playing with my brother. We had a magical bed with purple sheets and a Snoopy-covered blanket. Together, we would climb in the bed and fly to faraway places and distant lands. We zipped (shoom voosh!) left and right through the clouds...

...into and out of the sunshine, ever higher and ever higher. And when it rained we donned our googles, aviator glasses all leathery and round. We wiped the water from our faces, flew on, and stopped for an in-flight snack. Did I tell you, one time we went to the moon and the stars?

Those were fun times, played out in the magic twinkle of youth, with many Snoopies guiding our way. By the time we landed safely at home, we were very tired indeed. So we would sleep for a moment, wake up and explore once again -- just a day older but still young enough to dream.
